Week In Review

 

This week something incredibly moving happened, the official U.S. release of Bully.

Bullying has always been a problem in the U.S. More people are realizing the “kids will be kids” cop-out is not viable, but basically an ignorant celebration of bullying and alpha-status.

Since mobile devices like camera phones and other portable video recorders have become available and affordable, many bullies use them as a chance to showcase their mental health issues/culture by recording their attempts to be popular.

“Bully” forces you to confront not the cruelty of specific children — who have their own problems, and their good sides as well — but rather the extent to which that cruelty is embedded in our schools and therefore in our society as a whole.

It’s time to put an end to bullying of children of color, LGBT, or those with different physical characteristics. This film looks to bring the problem to the surface and, to that, we show support.
